James
trained in Ophthalmic Optics in London and graduated from
The City University in 1978. He passed the qualifying examinations
of both the British Optical Association and the Worshipful
Company of Spectacles Makers in 1979. The following year,
1980, he was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London
and also became a Foundation Fellow of the College of Optometrists.
Having gained 10 years experience in the south
of England, James came to Evesham in the autumn of 1988 and,
with his wife Pamela acquired the optometry business in Swan
Lane in 1990.
In 1993 James was admitted to the Livery of
the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers and takes an active
interest in both the Company and the City of London. Following
a short period in New Orleans, Louisiana, he passed the fellowship
examination of the American Academy of Optometry, becoming
an Optometrist as well as being an Ophthalmic Optician. He
holds post graduate certificates in Ocular Therapeutics, Advanced
Contact Lens Fitting, Binocular Vision Anomalies, Glaucoma,
Diabetes and the ocular difficulties of those individuals
with Learning Disabilities. He returned to City University
as a part time student in the late nineties and in September
2002 graduated with the degree of Master of Science in Clinical
Optometry.
Recently, James has been involved with developing
digital photography screening for diabetic eye disease and
has presented local and national papers on the subject.
Pamela
M Osborne
Pamela
initially graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ophthalmic
Optics from The City University, London in 1979. She has a
keen interest in clinical healthcare and subsequently trained
as a mental health nurse at the Gloucestershire Royal hospital.
In 1990 she obtained a post graduate diploma in business administration
from the Royal Society of Arts and runs the clinical and business
administration. Between 1998 and 2000 she completed an update
of her computer skills at Evesham College.
She is a full partner in the Swan Lane Optometry
practice, in Evesham. A qualified Chiropodist and member of
the Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, Pamela offers
a Chiropody service from the Swan Lane premises. She is actively
involved with the Midland branch of the Institute of Chiropodists
and Podiatrists and has an interest in postgraduate continuing
education and training.
